The Message from Our Dean
Dear Students,
First of all, welcome to the Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Tourism. We are happy and also feel responsible for your preference of our university and faculty. This responsibility gives us academic and administrative staff courage to do our best for your education. For the aim of making you ready for competitive environment within tourism industry, we offer you firstly foreign language education and theoretical and practical courses; your success and efforts during your education will be helpful for you to be at important places within hospitality, travel, transportation, food and beverage and entertainment sectors.
You can be sure that we will give more importance to your becoming individuals who knows at least two foreign languages, can use required computer programs, complete internship in national and international facilities, can communicate easily, have self-confidence, can adapt economic and global conditions and know team spirit. We keep trying our best to offer the best tourism education with our courses and distinguished academicians.
Our “School of Hospitality and Tourism Management” which had been operating as four-year school and had raised successful scientists and managers became “Faculty of Tourism” with 2014/6728 number of Official Journal 29100 on 26.08.2014. Our faculty has four undergraduate departments: Department of Travel Management, Department of Hospitality Management, Department of Food and Beverage Management and Department of Tourism. Our faculty also has Distance Learning Program of Hospitality Management which was initiated in the academic year of 2012-2013, Tourism Management master’s program with thesis initiated in 2006-2007, Tourism Management non-thesis master’s program that started to accept students in the academic year of 2013-2014, and Tourism Management doctorate program initiated in the academic year of 2014-2015. As a brand new faculty, our aim is to be a leading education center which raises future leaders and managers. Our second aim is to be a Faculty of Tourism which receives students with highest grades. With a new building which is planned to be built soon, and which especially disabled students can easily access and students in food and beverage management can easily practice, with new departments and academic staff, we aim to serve you dear students. We also aim to contribute to the tourism literature with researches and studies specifically on sustainable tourism policies which can be published in international and national journals.
Our faculty was built for the purpose of raising qualified people with higher professional knowledge and contributing national and regional industry.
As a conclusion, I would like to say “Welcome” again to Mugla that has various kinds of products and is one of the most important tourism destinations. I wish you success in 2021-2022 academic year in the name of our faculty administration; I wish you happiness and health.
